ABOUT PESCO | OUR TEAM


The core team of PESCO will be led by 6 professionals who have extensive experience in one or more of the above areas of business interest. They hold 65% of the equity and five board positions.

Support is provided by NAPESCO and CHARTER COATING SERVICE (P) LTD with 20% equity and 15% equity respectively and share one seat each out of the 5 board positions.

Dr. Ali Mohammed Akbar
Chairman

Dr. Ali Mohammed Akbar - Chairman, is a highly erudite person, and an eminent personality, having obtained two masters degree one in Petroleum Engineering and the other in Engineering Management in 1971 from University of Missouri (UM), U.S.A. Also he was conferred the PhD in Petroleum Engineering from UM in 1973.

Since his days as a Petroleum Engineering trainee during 1964 in the former American Independent Oil company (now known as KOC), he has come a long way and has served both the academic and the industry for oil sector in Kuwait in various capacities. He was a member of I/C Planning for Establishment of the college of Engineering in Kuwait University in 1975. Later he became the Assistant Vice Rector for Information for University computer Services and then was appointed the Dean for the College of Engineering and Petroleum in 1981. Also he held the post of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of "The American University of Kuwait" during 2002-2003. In addition, Dr. Akbar is an Adjunct Professor at the Petroleum Engineering Department in Kuwait University.

Dr. Akbar represented the Government of Kuwait in the "Arab Petroleum Congress", "World Petroleum Congress", "American Society of Petroleum Engineers", and "UNESCO". He was involved in some of the important committees established by the Government of Kuwait such as the Evaluation of five-year Plan for KISR, Oil Wells fire fighting-policy committee, and the Technical and Economic Evaluation for Oil Lakes - KOC. He has a vast experience in consultancy and information technology management. His current memberships include the Higher Petroleum Council, Kuwait Government and the Higher Education committee, Ministry of Higher Education.

Under Dr. Ali Mohammed Akbar's leadership, PESCO is poised to reach great heights in providing various services to the Petroleum Industry.


Mr. Abdul Aziz Mohammed Salem Sultan Al Ka’bi
Vice Chairman

Mr. Abdul Aziz Mohammed Salem Sultan Al Ka'bi - Vice Chairman, is a practicing lawyer, having earned his law degree in 1990 in the State of Kuwait.

He has successfully staged many a legal battle for his clients and has been a member in many committees such as Lawyer's Committee #350 year, the Environmental Committee, Kuwait Journalist Committee, and the Gulf Arbitration Center -Bahrain.

In addition, Mr. Alka'bi is member of the Supervision Committee of Labor Law Implementation and the Arbitration Committee of Ministry of Trade. Currently, he is the Head of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce's Legal Department.

He will provide able support to Dr. Ali Mohammed Akbar and guidance in the legal matters of PESCO. We are privileged therefore to have him as the Vice Chairman.


Dr. Yousef Sayed Khalaf
Board Member

Dr. Khalaf - Board Member, is a brilliant academician and holds a Masters degree (1994) and a Ph.D. (1998) in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Colorado, USA.

Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Kuwait University, a post which he holds since 1998, he was also the department chairman between the years 2000 and 2002. Dr. Khalaf has taught many courses, including professional courses relevant to the Petroleum Industry for the past 9 years.

He has chaired many academic and industrial committees. Instrumental in establishing the Kuwait-Japan Exchange Student Program in 2001. Also, he was the organizing committee chairman for both the First and the Second Kuwait International Petroleum Conference & Exhibition (KIPCE) in 2002 and 2005 respectively. During the summer of 2004, he worked with OPEC in the Petroleum Market Analysis department.

Dr. Khalaf will provide the required impetus required for PESCO's consultancy wing, besides sharing the contemporary advancements in the field of Petroleum Engineering.


Mr. Sami Imam Kamel El Nahas
Representative Board Member on behalf of NAPESCO

Mr. Sami Imam Kamel El Nahas - Representative Board Member on behalf of NAPESCO is a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering (Drilling and Production) from the Faculty of Petroleum & Mining, Suez Canal University, Egypt

He is the General Manager and partner of NAPESCO a position he has held since April 1996 and served in Egypt, Sudan and Syria.

Prior to 1996, he has worked for "Dresser Europe S.A." "BAPETCO - Egypt (Shell / EGPC Partnership)", "GUPCO- Egypt" in the capacities of Senior Technical Services Engineer, District Manager - responsible for Marketing, Technical applications and Drilling consultant, Rig Superintendent, Operation Engineer and Relief Drilling Superintendent respectively. He also has special training in many areas in the field of Drilling.

He will provide valuable inputs in the fields of managing the contracts that will be secured by PESCO.


Mr. Ali Al Koor
Representative Board Member on behalf of CHARTER COATING

Mr. Ali Al Koor - Representative Board Member on behalf of CHARTER COATING SERVICES LTD holds a bachelor degree (1970) in Economics from the University of North California.

He has wide ranging experience in the fields of insurance and finance. He worked as a Commercial Causality Underwriter Aetna Life & Casualty Ins. Co. between July 1970 and September 1971. His dynamism and spirited attitude saw him rise to of "General Manager" of Aalko Insurance Agency, a position he held between November 1971 and June 1973.

Mr. Al Koor was President / Chief Executive Officer American United Ins. Agencies (Fire & Casualty Brokerage firm with excess of 10 Million U.S $ in Annual Premium), President, Republic Premium Finance Corporation (Subsidiary of American United Ins. for the purpose of financing Policy Premium for their clients).

He is currently the Vice President / Chief Financial Officer, Charter Coating services (2000) Ltd. (Research and Testing Laboratory for Oil & Gas Industry) and has held the post since the year 2000.


Mr. Ali H. Baba
General Manager

An electrical engineer by profession, he secured his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Mass. USA in 1976.

He was an employee of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) from 1976 to 2002 and has a long duration of experience in Project Design, Construction and Project Management of EPC type related to the upstream and downstream of the Oil industry. The projects he was associated with ranged from extra large Lump Sum Turnkey and fixed type lump sum of both onshore and offshore areas.

He has conducted feasibility studies, value engineering and economics for different types of projects and carried out detail technical analysis of power distribution system for KOC fields (North Kuwait, West Kuwait and South East Kuwait) in addition to water reticulation system in Ahmadi.

He has liaised with several governmental authorities mainly with the Ministry of Electricity and Water. Having attended several courses, in technical and Project Management in Kuwait and abroad, he held several senior positions during his tenure with KOC.

Mr. Baba was the Chairman of the Standard Technical Committee whose members comprised eight senior engineers from different departments of KOC. During this time he was responsible for managing major projects for North Kuwait field and offshore, projects related to secondary recovery such as Sea Water Injection, Effluent Water Injection, Submersible pumps and Electrical Power Supply Distribution. In the early 1996, he completed a offshore project where he managed from conceptual stage, preliminary and detailed design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning of SPM Export Facility, where international contractors such as Bechtel, Parsons, NPCC and SOFEC were involved in all stages.

Following are some of the positions he has held:

Superintendent of the Standard Division between the years 1997 and 2002

Superintendent of the Project Design Engineering Department between the years 1992 to 1997

Senior Engineer, Projects Engineering Department between the years 1982 to 1992

Electrical Engineer - Design between the years 1978 to 1982 and

Assistant Electrical Engineer between the years 1976 and 1978

His involvement and co-ordination with MEW in respect of power supply to KOC field in the following areas proved extremely valuable

120MVA Firm supply for refinery to replace MSPS

60MVA firm supply for SEK (Burgan & Magwa) to replace BPS

120MVA firm supply for WK (Umm Gudair)

60 MVA firm supply for NK (Raudhatain)

Mr. Baba also prepared design packages for several substations and distribution network. During his tenure with KOC, he honed his skills in procurement of materials and supervision of construction.

With his diverse experience in Contracts Management and his affable and dynamic style of leadership, PESCO will see a tremendous rise in business in the years to come.
